In December 2017 Nike has celebrated his Campus Expansion Art Project by inviting 18 different artists from 8 different countries to create their murals on the campus
in order to foster community and collaboration through the incorporation of engaging and unexpected spaces and to highlight the global reach of one of New York’s great cultural exports: graffiti. Seventeen brilliant murals were realized during the project created by international artists such as Ashley Montague, CHINO BYI, Claw Money, DAIM, FAUST, Felipe Pantone, Gary Stranger, GOREY, Grotesk, Hueman, MadC, Nardstar, Paola Delfin, SPETO, SP One, Stash, Tones One and Yoon Hyup.
“Art is often a great way to bring soul into a building,” explains Todd Van Horne, VP and Creative Director, Nike Special Projects. The artists commissioned for the project present a range of styles. “It’s diversity at its best.”
For the NIKE WHQ Campus Expansion Art Project, Mirko Reisser has created a work that depicts his typical topics and style elements: The game with the construction and the deconstruction of the letters, their figuration and their abstraction or the movement between two- and three dimensionality are woven together with attributes that are characteristic for NIKE and it’s image. The work in its execution displays movement, the beholder is driven by its energy and dynamics. The work is about changing and evolving while being true to oneself.
